Puppies

I made a mistake we have two males and one female. I got a closer look at them today and discovered my mistake. It has been a difficult few days but, things are improving. I have learned somethings that should help us in the future. One is Karo syrup works!

Three Puppies

We have three puppies left, two males and one female. The one male is big and one is smaller. The female is about the same size as the male.

I have been reading trying to learn from this experience, what I should and should not do. I didn't try the Karo syrup on the tongue to bring them back. I read about tube feeding. I fed them from a eyedropper. I like the idea of putting a heating pad on low and putting a cloth bag filled with rice on top of it.

Tess is doing better today, I think she could sense that something was wrong with the puppies. She really let me have it last night when I took the dead puppy away. This is Tess's last litter of puppies. She has been a very good mother.

Survival

We lost 1 female and 1 male last night. I tried to feed them and keep them warm but,it just wasn't enough. They were to weak to nurse from Tess. This morning another female died and there is one more that is very weak. Right now, we have 1 male and 3 female alive. We will just have to wait and see how things go. Tess whines and cries when we take her baby from her. I guess that is just how life goes sometimes.

The Puppies are Born

Tessa had her puppies today. She had 6 females and 2 males. I had to take her to the vet because she was having some problems. The vet did a cesarean at about 4:30 this afternoon. Everyone is home and doing okay. It was a very long day for Tessa.

How many Puppies???

Tessa's tummy is full of puppies. She really doesn't look like herself with her coat so short but, it does make whelping easier for her.

Preparing for Puppies

I bathed Tessa today, she really didn't think to much of getting into the bath tub. Once I used my, "Tessa Jean" stern voice she hopped into the tub. She is all cleaned up and ready for the clippers. I am going to take her tomorrow for a haircut. She is more at ease with less hair while nursing the puppies and caring for the puppies.

Puppies

We are expecting a litter of puppies the last week in June. I better start getting things in line for the whelping and care of the litter.
